Celebrations and Acknowledgements
The Royal Canadian College of Organists Halifax Centre is delighted to share news of two appointments among our members.
First, we are thrilled to share that Dr. Kim Tan MacNeill has been appointed Director of Music Ministries at Saint Mary’s Cathedral Basilica, Halifax effective September 1. Kim is no stranger around Saint Mary’s, having been the Music Coordinator for the Sunday evening services for several years, and the brilliant mind behind the hugely successful Summer Organ Recital series.
Do keep your eyes on Saint Mary’s for many exciting musical endeavours to come!
Second, we are excited to share that Dr. Neil Cockburn, currently serving as the Director of Chapel Music at the University of King’s College, has been appointed Organist & Director of Music at Christ Church Cathedral in Vancouver, BC, starting January 1, 2025.
Dr. Cockburn, who is also the Vice-President & Program Committee Chair of the RCCO Halifax Centre, has made significant contributions to our community since moving here. As he transitions to his new role later this fall, we extend our heartfelt best wishes for his continued success.
We look forward to watching his exceptional musical leadership flourish on the west coast, even from afar. He will continue his duties within the RCCO Halifax Centre through the fall, during which the Executive will search for a member to fill the role beginning in January.
